  • Dear Sailors,

After a very difficult two years for us, we are happy to finally announce our 2022 PWA World Tour Calendar. While there are still uncertainties ahead, we are now moving forward with much more confidence in being able to deliver the World Tour that you all deserve.

    Provisional_calendar_HIGH_RES.png

After our last event in France and the many meetings we had, we have been quite busy not only trying to put together a competition calendar for 2022, but also developing and trying to improve on the many ideas discussed in Marignane. Since November we have formed and finalized numerous committees which have been formed in order to give us more power and efficiency from an executive point of view, but also to be able to give you, the sailors, a bigger and more direct impact on the direction, vision, and marketing of the PWA World Tour. I would like to thank all the members of the committees for all their work and efforts in helping us move forward. The committees and members are all listed below.

Following the SOMWR 10x Climate Positive event in Marignane, we are moving forward with a much more clear and concise message to the sporting world that we want to be one of the first sporting organizations that are not just carbon neutral but 10 x carbon positive for all our events. Our Sustainability Committee has done a great job in setting up an Environmental Code of Conduct and putting in place the necessary guidelines for us to achieve this goal. The other committees have also been busy with the events committee providing potential event organizers, the marketing committee providing ideas and concepts for us to be able to use our platform for better advertisement and promotion, and our media team doing a great job in coming up with ideas and concepts to improve how we are presented on social media platforms and beyond. All these committees and ideas are still in the early stages but it has been a very positive step forward and we feel confident once we are able to streamline the processes, this will help make us a better organization.

The PWA management board has also appointed Rytis Jasiunas as Vice President of the PWA following the clear message delivered from the sailors at the AGM in France. Rytis has been helping Rich and myself to implement and guide the committees and their respective work freeing up valuable time for us to keep moving forward despite the increased work load.

We have also been making a focused effort in improving communication channels between all parties including management board, the executive, the committees and with sailors. We are committed to provide the necessary communication and transparency so that we all move forward with the necessary confidence in ourselves and each other.

It is important to note that the calendar we are releasing today is dynamic and there is much more work being done in securing more events for 2022. We will continue to update as things develop and more efforts are made in getting the PWA back on track after these difficult past two years living with this pandemic.

Above everything we wish you all good health and the continuous efforts in following our passions for the sport we all love.

    All the best,

    Jimmy

Our Sustainability Committee will reduce the negative environmental impacts at PWA events. Using learnings from other sporting events to develop positive actions in removing single-use plastics, reducing and offsetting CO2 emissions.

Träumen darf man ja...
