Updates to 2022 PWA Schedule
Dear Friends
We hope you are all safe and well.
There has been lots going on behind the scenes at PWA as always, and we wanted to bring you a few updates about the calendar.
Entries opened this week for the Zoo Station Croatia Slalom 2 Star World Tour event, and the 5 star Gran Canaria Windsurfing World Cup. Croatia will see many of the worlds best slalom racers warming up for the full Word Cup events later in the year and Gran Canaria will host not only the greatest air show in the sport, but a full fleet of youth and junior competition. It will be the first time we have been back to Pozo since 2019 in what will be one of the most anticipated events of the season.
The Gran Canaria AIr Show.
We are currently working very closely with local government authorities and the Rene Egli Centre in Fuerteventura to finalise details for this year’s event and we hope to be able to bring you more news in the very near future.
All action at the Melia Gorriones
The Tenerife World Cup will not now take place in August as planned but has now been repositioned to the autumn for 2022, to adapt to changes in the funding schedule and make use of work that has already been done in securing the event for this year. We will bring you further details as soon as arrangements are finalised. The event is expected to return to its traditional summer slot for the 2023 season.
That’s all for now, but we will continue to bring you news and updates as soon as we can.
See you on the water soon.
Kind regards
The PWA.

Dear Members of the Windsurfing Industry
We hope you are all well in these uncertain times.
As part of our range of eco activities being implemented this year, we are trying to cut down on plastic waste created at events. As part of this, it has been decided that we will discontinue the practice of displaying a flag for each of the PWA member brands at PWA events.
Branding materials and the fixtures and fittings used to rig them are often made of disposable plastics which create waste on the beaches and are contrary to the important messages we all need to be upholding in that respect.
Sending flags to and from to the PWA, and flying them to events also creates additional environmental impact through carbon generation and packaging, as well as work and expense for brands, the PWA, and our event organisers. Eliminating this will help with the overall efforts and significant cost cutting measures that will be announced soon to ensure the future security of events.
In order to offset the branding exposure and to continue to recognise the brands that support the tour, we will be implementing alternate brand exposure through digital means in our online content.
We look forward to seeing you on the water soon.
Kind regards
The PWA

FUERTEVENTURA
Dear Sailors
We wanted to give you a brief update on the situation surrounding Fuerteventura.
After months of hard work and communication with both the local government and the event organizers, we do have an agreement in principal for an 8 day event (4 days per discipline, final dates TBC) for both slalom and freestyle, for men and women. The proposed event will be at slightly reduced levels from previous years, but these levels will be in line with market rates and the event will be a full counting Grand Slam.
However, at this time we are still unable to confirm the event due to complicated legal and political situations that are delaying required documentation and are completely beyond our control. We are continuing to work closely with both the organizers and the government and are still hopeful that a successful outcome is possible.
We will bring you further updates as soon as we have them.
Kind regards
The PWA

Dear Sailors
Efforts are continuing to secure the necessary documentation for the Fuerteventura Grand Slam to be confirmed, and everything that can be prepared at this stage is being done so, so that no time is wasted as and when that confirmation can be given.
The event dates have now been provisionally set for 24th – 31st July, with 4 days for each discipline, starting with Slalom from 24th to 27th July and Freestyle from 28th – 31st.
We know it is difficult to plan when the event is not confirmed, and we thank you for your patience and understanding whilst every effort is being made to ensure the continuation of this iconic event.
We will keep you updated with any progress.
Kind regards
The PWA

Fuerteventura: Bürgermeister sagt überraschend PWA World Cup ab
Lokalpolitik bringt PWA in Bedrängnis.
2022 sollte der World Cup eigentlich wieder stattfinden.
