Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum, just created my account. I am from Italy, have been windsurfing for 8yrs more or less and I like, as you others, slalom /freeracing.
I do not have yet a proper technique to fully use a proper slalom or free race board, and this is the only thread I found regarding the White Tiger, project that I followed with a lot of interest on Mario's YT channel.
David R-T Hi! Nice to meet you, I would like to ask you if during this time you had more time on the water with the White Tiger and what are your opinions: from your previous posts, you always lamented the fact you did not have the proper wind to truly test the board: did something change? Are you happy with it?
Also, in the previous posts, some other user asked what was in the board to make it "a revolutionary board". From what I managed to learn, the truly innovative facts with the tiger are:
1. length: in a world of shortboard oriented designs, it stands out for its length. This is the longest free race board available along with the Goya Bolt 4. There are the Severne Fox and the Tabou Rocket (but those are more freeride oriented). There are also longer boards yes such as the Patrik F-race (252cm) but they all fall in the free ride category, so I suppose are all a bit slower.
2. designed to be easy: multiple strap positions, bottom shape with a long flat to get early planing. these first two points all help to get planing earlier and pass lulls with ease, since shortboard fatigue in this.
3. Price: cheaper than the alternatives: yes, fin is not included, but for 189€ you get the original carbon fin (derived from the Z SLM which should be really good and easy going compared to a full on slalom fin).
4. almost a dedicated after sales customer service: the possibility to talk directly to the tester (Mario) I think it's a plus.
5. Factory: being build in the Kinetic factory it's a major plus: I never saw or ridden a FF board, but from what I read they are on a different level from the massive brands produced in Kobra.
6. Construction: designed to give to the rider a smoother and easier ride, along with reinforced parts on nose and rails.
7. I suppose the shape of the rails are designed to make jibing easier.
for sure there are faster boards, but none are designed to be easy and to be ridden all day long.
Let me know what you think, as soon as I can I look forward to trying this board
