As we open the 2017 season, we will be implementing a few changes to the ranking points structure. The first change will see a departure from the traditional 33 point separation, with first place at an event receiving 2100 points, to a cleaner, more straightforward numerical system with the first place receiving 1000 points, 2nd = 990 points, 3rd = 980 points and so on.
This change is purely cosmetic and will not impact results or rankings in any way, other than to make calculation simpler and easier to follow.
There will also be 2 additional changes for the Slalom Ranking. To try to balance out the value of events which have more races as opposed to those that have only a few, events that have 4 or more valid races will receive slightly higher points than those with less than 4 races. This means that after 4 valid races the first place will receive 1030 points, 2nd = 1020, 3rd = 1010 and so on.
In the case that we are unlucky with conditions or other circumstances, that leave us with only 2 valid events in the year, the Slalom ranking will be calculated based on all of the individual races in the year.
Full details of the ranking points and all updated rules are available in the rule changes on the website here.
Kind regards
The PWA
