Hello, I will answer in English on this question. (I will help the organisation with the gps-things, so this is the concept we will try to do next week.)
Previous years we used the video-timing. A very good system with accurant results, BUT very time-consuming calculations. The organisers (and helping hands) are not payed and I know that the wife from the organiser (Patrick B-52) spent hours and hours and hours and ... behind the laptop to analyse all videotiming-tapes!
This year we will compete in 1 big startingroup (with 60-70 people!) and the videotiming would take the whole night for one person tot analyse everything, because you can't split the tapes!
So we will ask all competitors to wear a gps (GT11 or GT31 and yes the organisation has some spares, from the dutch f2/mauisails importer). After the heat all competitors will have to hand in their track (we will coordinate this with some people with laptops).
For every competitor the 2 fastest runs in the competition-time on the official 500m track will be calculated (start and end-time of the run). These 2 fastest runs will be checked on the videotiming that night.
The official result for the Belgian will be based on the videotiming. The gps-thing will just speed up the videotiming-calculation:
previous: 60 competitors * average of 7 runs/heat = 420 runs to check = 420*2min. = 14 hours with 1 person!
for 2009: 60 competitors * 2 fastest gpsruns/heat = 120 runs to check = 120*1min. (we have already start and end-time of the run) = 2 hours
This system will be tested during the first competition-day. If it doesn't work out, the organisation will take back the old system (with 2 startingroups and only videotiming).
