My wife uses my speedster sails setups on her 135l fanatic gecko and with the 7,2 with the same settings as what i use on foil she does 43km/u .
Settings for downhaul and outhaul are exactly matching with the min / max markers in the sai with the gun masts..
I tryed a np mast from a friend at our surfclub to test the difference ,the sail looks and feels exactly the same on land and water.
All nocam sails from NP work on gun masts till 7,2 best rdm. , only if you are like 85kg or more get an sdm for sails bigger then 7m.
gunsails rdm mast fits perfect in ryde ,speedster and wavesails from NP
Just for v8. ,v8 flight and racings you need NP masts .
Gun is cc with a bit flextop.
Am using speedster sails 5 2 and 7,2 on rdm 400. 70% and rdm 460. 70% masts from gun
My sails are from 2023 and masts from 2023
Future fly 145 flying camel and full carbon starboard race foil i use with the sails. I get some good speed (50 to 53km/u) with the speedster sails so i gess it works good with the masts .
stay away from these old windsurfmaterial.
Even if you get it for free its also not an intresting set.
If your budget is so small its better to go to a location and rent some surfingmaterial and safe cash for the next months and buy the correct equipment later.
Contact Marco Boone in holland
You can put there website in different languages
Also webshop.
They can get normaly everething and they have the best info and expertise on starboard parts.
They test everething , train the yought for IQ foil competition and more.
If you have questions for foil parts ,combinations or whatever he is the man .
At my local lake there are a lot of people with these starboard phantoms.
They all use the loftsails raceboard blades in 9,5 or 8,5m. , they sail these 9,5m from 8 / 9 knots and are staying on these even when we measure gusts of 5,5 to 6bf when we have clubraces .its a small lake so wind is between 4 and 6bf so you need the 9,5m
If they do the races sometimes on the bigger lakes in holland they go to 8 5m when you have consistant wind of 5,5 to 6bf .
Thats what i know from or clubmembers .
Using these sails on a 140l freeracer , they have a really long boom lenght so thats not always so ideal i think.
Other good lightwindsails GA cosmic 9m or np. V8. 9,4m. , there are probably others but these i know because i used them.
With foil you sail 1,5m smaller then people on fin.
I am on 5,2 speedster from 4,5bf with 725/115 the old black fuse/255 backwing
For + fuselage you need the spacers or the backwing doesn't fit on the fuse, there included in the set.
115+ fuselage is really powerfull , for 70kg its not the best option, you can do it but you dont need it if your not in competition,
Long fuselage is a bit more stable and go's higher and faster upwind / downwind
https://shop.windcraft-sports.de/windsurf-foil/…-gt-r-plus.html
I dont know what your budget is you like to spend but with your weight of only 70kg this is a good option for you and thats really not expencive.
In lightwind you use tbe 330 backwing
just find a secondhand 255 or 255-2 back wing and you are good to go when the wind picks up.
Am 68kg my biggest sail is 7,2 speedster.
so your 7,7 is more then enough in 10 / 12kn wind with a 330 backwing.
The jp hydrofoil 133 is the perfect board for your sails and a gtr foil and your weight.
With 800 /255-2. And a sail around 4,8 - 5m. You can take a lot of speed and dont be overpowerd that fast.
I go from 7,2 speedster directly to 5,2 speedster.
on the duotone forum from the website whas somebody with the same question.
S pace 8,3 with 460 mast
His problem whas camber rotation but Marco Lang from Duotone adviced him to use a 490 mast anyway because the s-pace is a performance sail and designed on the 490 mast .
460 is alternative mast but not the best option in general.
Its possible that there is a little movement on a fin , just put a piece of ducktape or so on one side of the finpart that go's in the box.
what fin are you using, the original ?
duotone duke maybe, think thats a good option
i just contact a friend he knows a lot of gunsails.
This is the 2013 rapid yes .
Downhoul should be for sure till the FRED mark, they had a lot of loose leach then , .
The rest you should set with the outhoul so the battens are moving back like i wrote before.
Since your sail is older its also stretched a bit maybe so its possible you need like a cm more or so to get to the FRED mark.
If you are not shure about the batten tention loosen them all and tighten them again till wrinkels are gone. The topbattens 1 and 2 dont need much tension.
Dont over do it with the lower battens on tention a few wrinkels in the monofilm is possible in the lower corner next to the mast .
Do you always have your boom so low? Where is it when your standing on your board, it should be as high as your shoulder . Higher boom gifs more lift also to get planning.
Till batten 5 and further down to the extension they should be till the middle of the mast diameter , On your last picture the batten is sticking past the mast so it should move backwarts.
So i think your batten 5 should be ok if you take the settings from your first set of pictures. So a bit more downhoul and outhoul. Try that again and see if the batten is moved back
on pictures 2 i would say you have a lot of loose leach , so on max probbably or even a bit more.
But you say rotation is good on the water so your trim can not be that bad.
hello
if you take pictures you shoud make them with the battens on the correct side of the sail.
The battens should be on the other side of the mast to see how your trim is.
If you look at unifiber mast selector then severne and gaastra are not a correct match.
Gaastra masts worked in severne before 2015 so when gaastra whas still hardtop, found that on seabreeze australia forum.
So i think the mast you have is the problem.
What mast are you running in your bigger size matrix sail ,you wrote its not an original.
So get the same brand mast as your 7,2 then.
its difficult to see on pictures , but on the last picture i would say you have enough downhoul , is there the boom also +4 cm longer then what the settings on the sail say.?
You wrote in your first post that you tried 4cm more .
The matrix doesn't need that much belly ,if you pull outhaul then the sail should be a few cm's away from the boom at the middle part .if you put some pressure with your flat hands it should just not touch the boom.
Unifiber mast are also a good match for ga sails ,i always used thad in my cosmics and fantoms. 80% masts.
