Folks,
If you are receiving this message, it is because you have a professional or personal link with Tico Wind.
We need your help, whatever form that may take.
Back story
We have been operating on Lake Arenal for 30 years and have (had) a valid concession issued by the relevant CR authorities. This concession was suspended in August. Since then we have been, through our lawyer searching for a compromise with the CR government that enables us to open. Having reached the end of our patience with “standard procedures” we feel that bringing the situation into the light of social media may help the bureaucrats (not a typo) to understand that this is important for many folks, especially nonresidents, who may want to visit Costa Rica but now won’t come.
So for those of you with control over brand sm would you be prepared to share, like or post a comment on the post we have made in our FB and Insta accounts? Likewise for those with private sm accounts share our post spread the word and use the hash tags #lakearenal #windsurfing #kitesurfing #foiling #winging #saveticowind #nomiquiteellago #savethelake.
For those of you with a few minutes on your hands there are some Govnt. sites that you can make a comment on regarding the situation. We feel it would be best to keep a positive tone, no direct criticism. Rathe rquestioning why is this happening. What will get their attention, especially the tourism sector, are comments like “shit no windsurfing/wanted to go and learn winging/ well that’s my vacation to Costa Rica cancelled.
So that you know why. There has been a recent interpretation of an existing law which states that concessions cannot be within 50m of a high water mark, which has never been reached, On a man made lake. This is where the problem starts as the whole area we have used for 30 years is within that 50m.
Sites you can leave a comment on:-

https://ticotimes.net/ they are an English language newspaper and website. You can leave a comment on their Insta or FB pages.
PART 2
A campaign is coming together. For those of you outside CR we feel pressure can be brought bear by mailing or calling your local consulate. For those with restricted time here are a few examples that you can adapt as you see fit. Those with a little fantasy and more time should feel free to write their own story.
For those in the US I think we should concentrate or emails on one address, the Washington consulate. Please feel free to call any of the other consulates if they are closer to you.
Hi,
We were thinking about a vacation (holiday) in Costa Rica this winter but heard from the only windsurfing centre in the country, Tico Wind, that they have been closed down. Could you help us out to find out if that will change. We really wanted to windsurf on Lake Arenal, it’s been on our bucket list for years.
Hi, we have been visiting Costa Rica for years for our annual windsurfing/kitesurfing vacation. (we wanted to go to learn wing foiling) Just heard from the operator, Tico Wind, that they have been closed down by your government. Sounds weird that a tourist destination gets closed down, especially with you folks trying to recover from the Covid-19 situation. There also doesn’t seem to be another windsurf centre in the country. Can you help us?
Scroll down to find a consulate in your country.
Let’s make it clear to the tourism folks that they stand to lose out.
