A windy start to the 2021 Zoo Station Bol PWA World Cup Croatia

    Women’s

    Slalom

Sara Wennekes may have only made her debut on the PWA World Tour last week at the Tiberias PWA World Cup, but the 25-year-old is adapting to life on tour extremely quickly as she currently leads in beautiful Bol after recording a bullet, a second and a third in the opening three eliminations.

However, Tuesday-Lou Judd (Patrik / Phantom Sails), could seriously reduce Wennekes’ if the 21-year-old is able to discard her 9th place from Elimination 3 as she was also able to win one race and finish 3rd in the other. After a consistent day of sailing - Fabiënne Hoogendam (S2Maui) - currently occupies second place.

    Men’s

    Slalom

In the Men’s, Jordy Vonk (Fanatic / Duotone / LOKEFOIL) and Basile Jacquin (FMX Racing / Point-7) are currently tied for the lead after the opening two eliminations where they both finished second and third respectively. However, home favourite, Enrico Marotti (JP / NeilPryde), is poised to strike. The Croat won the opening elimination before finishing 5th in Elimination 2 to finish the opening day less than a point off of the lead.

Maciek Rutkowski (FMX Racing / Challenger Sails) is also well placed to attack the top after the Pole built upon on a solid 6th place in the opener by rattling off his first bullet of the event in the second as he looks to defend his title from last year.

The top 10 is currently completed by Ennio dal Pont (JP / NeilPryde, Rytis Jasiunas (Future Fly / Point-7), Matteo Iachino (Starboard / Severne Sails / Starboard Foil), Bruno Martini (I-99 / Challenger Sails), Ben Van der Steen (Goya Windsurfing / Loftsails) and Cedric Bordes (Tabou / GA Sails).

With an excellent forecast to come there should be more racing to come on Saturday. The sailors will meet again at 12pm (CEST) for the skippers’ meeting with the action commencing from 1pm onwards.

tolle Rennen heute - tolle Veranstaltung.

The second day of the Zoo Station Bol, Croatia, PWA World Tour, saw more great racing with Bol continuing to deliver the goods with the guys again on 7.7s and the girls on 6.2s and medium boards. Two further eliminations were completed in the Men’s Slalom, whilst 3 more Women’s Slalom and the opening Foil elimination were also sailed.

Maciek Rutkowski steals the show on day two.

    Women’s

    Slalom

Tuesday-Lou Judd (Patrik / Phantom Sails) assumes the lead in the Women’s Slalom after being able to successfully discard her 9th place from Elimination 3. The 21-year-old enjoyed an excellent second day - winning Elimination 4 and then backing it up with two solid second places, which takes her into a 2.3 point lead over Sara Wennekes, who continues to sail extremely consistently. The 25-year-old is the only sailor in the fleet not to have finished outside of the top 3. Meanwhile, Fabiënne Hoogendam (Patrik / Patrik Sails) is 3 points further back after winning the last elimination of the day.

    Foil

The opening Women’s Foil Elimination was also completed on Day 2, which saw Wennekes take the first bullet of the event ahead of the hotly fancied - Helle Oppedal (Fanatic / Duotone) - who finished second last week in Israel. The top 3 is currently completed by Palma Cargo.

    Men’s

    Slalom

Maciek Rutkowski (FMX Racing / Challenger Sails) storms into the lead by the end of the second day after the Pole produced his best performance to date on the world tour. The 29-year-old reeled off two consecutive bullets today to complete a brilliant hat-trick of elimination victories, which sees the Pole hold a perfect record of 2.1 points after 4 races.

Basile Jacquin (FMX Racing / Point-7) is Rutkowski’s closest rival - trailing by 5.9 points - after a third and an 8th today, whilst Jordy Vonk (Fanatic / Duotone / LOKEFOIL) finishes the day on the same points as Jacquin - 8 - however, Vonk trails on countback having finished 10th in Elimination 3.

Enrico Marotti (JP / NeilPryde) slips one place to fourth after a 4th and an 8th today, whilst vice-world champion - Matteo Iachino (Starboard / Severne Sails / Starboard Foil) - gains a couple of places which seems the Italian rise into 5th place after recording two solid second places.

The top 10 is currently completed by Ennio dal Pont (JP / NeilPryde), Lohan Jules, Bruno Martini (I-99 / Challenger Sails), Rytis Jasiunas (Future Fly / Point-7) and Cedric Bordes (Tabou / GA Sails).
