    Gran Canaria- Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge

    IMPRESSIVE SPEEDS AND GREAT PARTICIPATION

    Gran Canaria Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge

More than 250 registered riders from 21 different countries- these are more than enough arguments to consider the Gran Canaria Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge 2020 the most important virtual event worldwide.

Holland being the country with the most registrations, doubling the German participants, which is the second country with the highest number of registered and in third place Sweden. Also riders from Australia, USA or Namibia inscribed for the event.

impressive 48.16 knots (av. on 250m)! That are nothing more and nothing less than 89.19km/h - the mark of the Belgian Vincent Valkenaers, winner of the event and the second period and with which he managed to break the draw he had with the Dutch Hans Kreisel, winner of the first period. Both riders are part of the world elite of the speed discipline and are regulars on the Luderizt canal, third place went to the Dutchman Jacques van der Hout.

In the women's category, won the clear favorite Heidi Ulrich from Switzerland with a speed of 39.04 knots. The newcomer Kirsten Baas from the Netherlands who won the first period with 34.19 knots made it not as easy for Heidi.
We are happy to annonce the overall winner of the

A very special Applause goes to our youngest sailor: Julian Koldeweid. With only 10 years he could make 250m in 40,61 km/h
66 years difference between the oldest and youngest!
Eugen Dunkerbeck the oldest rider with 76 years old who was the winner of the ULTIMATE ranking, In turn Julian Koldeweid from the Netherlands, with only 10 years old became the youngest participant and won his category.

This is a clear proof that in speed windsurfing there is no age limitation, a discipline in which grandparents can compete against their grandchildren and spend time together in the water.

live stream PWA very missliding to what happens !

    HI.

the wind was close but not good enough for racing the race committee did start and pulled the heat 1. trou !

Not race suitable , and last years this heats would have been canceled . heat 2 did not even start ,,, 15 later everyone send back to the beach !

I got the the first mark 2 but after that the wind go lighter and getting going was hardly possible , off course nice for the lighter guys , since there is a board and sail

Limit its normal that a lighter guy a plan earlier , but it not a fair race wind situation at all .

127 isonic 9.6 severne reflex 4 , was made for suitable wind PWA conditions not this what we had today .

Whit some rule change this year this will happen more often that we will sail in this no wind conditions !

Good or bad i gees it will make other windsurfers win which have on change in real racing conditions !

Yes it fools everyone that is not on the beach ,,,, no wind limit ok , but the also no equipment limits !

to race in this kind off wind is a joke !

    not Slalom at all !

This is not about wining or loosing , but about fair windsurfing slalom conditions !

    saludos

    Hi All

For you info, arriving here on friday 3 Days ago ,,, and sorry to say that all my equipment hasn't made it here yet , Turkish Airlines has kept promising that it will be on the next plane ,, but,,

this morning it still wasn't there ,, so what to do ,, 131L Isonic and 111L Isonic from Jimmy Diaz fins from Steve Allen and Ben V.D Steen + harness ,,,

A 9.7 Reflex was found by the local severne and star board dealer around 11.00 ,,, boom and base as well, all good for the wind we having !!!!

14.00 start 9.7 ok ,,, then the wind picked up ,,, and i didn't have a 8.6 Chris P. lent me his for the semis and Woychek his 8.6 for the final ,, 3 Place not to bad i thought ,,,

Then the next round still 8.6 wind new format on the heat order , all on 8.6 and Chris in the 1. heat ,, i was in heat 5 which is the 4 final of the format ,,, waiting on the beach already tuning with Victor an 8.6 from an Turkish windsurfer ,,

Chris has a crash at the first mark , ends up 6 in his heat , so i decide to use his 8.6 again ,,,, rushing out to the start line ,,,, didn't have the best off start this time and didn't make it to the next round (;-(((

I am still hopeful my equipment will make it here today , so that tomorrow everything will be 100% positive again !

I do like to Thank our team for helping out where they could !

Thanks and may the wind be with us tomorrow !

    Björn

P.S this be my reason you see me on a pic with no logos or with other brands ,,, i am sorry for this !!!

    Hi all

we did get some wind this afternoon ,,, 10- 18 knots ,,, one more round nr.4

My Speed was great wind was up and down between 9.7m2 131 L Star Board isonic severne and 8.6m2 severne on 111L star board isonic

i was first in all my heats at the first mark .

Sorry to say that i coat my boom end jibing the second outside buoy , in the lead in the semis , not wanting to leave any room for the windsurfer in second !

,,, and fell , i must say i was pretty powered up ,,, worried to be underpowered , didn't help the jibing control .

I did then win the looses final easy so 9 place this round (:-(((

Tomorrow looks like some more wind (;-)))))

Still in 2. place , lets see if we get wind for a round or two more !

    Saludos
