    Thanx Craig, C-Bra and Moehnesurfer for your statements. Thumbs up! C-Bra und Moehnesurfer, ihr seid nicht in der Branche tätig und habt doch mehr Durchblick als so manch vermeintlicher Insider. Übrigens, der Veranstalter in Österreich wirbt weiter gerne mit seinem Worldcup-Status. Das hat nix mit dicken Eiern zu tun sondern mit Taschen vollmachen.

    Moin Joachim, die App ist erst ab dem offiziellen Erstverkaufstag, also dem 18.12., wenn das Heft auch am Kiosk liegt, im Appstore erhältlich. Die Abonnenten bekommen das Heft ja immer in paar Tag früher.

  • Chile gestrichen

    Dear sailors,


    I am very sorry to inform you that, despite all the efforts made by the team involved with the Chile event this year, we have come to a point where we have to cancel the event.


    I told you that the event would happen based on a contract signed with the main sponsor, Aragas, on the 29th December 2012 which guaranteed 60.000 Euros per year for 3 years. During Sylt I spoke with the owner of the company and they assured me that they were about to send the money, and all they needed were the PWA bank details which I sent to them the next day. Since that day I have not been able to contact the company, despite calling every morning and evening and sending over 30 emails, texts, Facebook messages.


    Since December last year, myself and the team in Chile have worked tirelessly, arranging and attending meetings with over 40 companies in Chile to find the additional support needed to be able to pull off a full standards men and women’s event in Chile. I personally flew there twice from Maui to attend meetings with companies and in the end, we were able to find the additional funding needed to be able to pull it off for men and women, but without the 60.000 Euros that we were counting on from Aragas, we will not be able to do anything.


    I know that many of you did not come to Maui because you were planning to go to Chile and I am well aware that this affects many of your overall rankings for this year. I am terribly sorry about this, I hope you will understand how surprising and stressful this was for me as well considering the circumstances and the amount of work, time and money that I personally invested in this event over the year.


    The people who have been helping me in Chile are very disappointed as well and are very motivated to make this event happen next year, even if we do not get support from Aragas. I am going there straight after Maui to start work on it.


    Girls, I know you didn’t get a World Title award ceremony this year because of me and I am so sorry about that. I really hoped for you to be able to celebrate in Chile after a fantastic event.


    For those of you who have already booked your flights, Felipe and Andres from the Hotel Surazo have offered to give the originally planned accommodation deal if you decide to come anyway. The car rental company has also agreed to offer the same price as agreed for the competitors for those who will go anyway.


    Again, I am completely devastated about this and accept the responsibility for having told you all that it would happen, but I hope you will accept my apologies due to the extenuating circumstances.


    All the best and I hope to bring you better news next time.

    Uri, du kannst das schon glauben, was in der surf steht. Dort steht nirgendwo, dass Finian zu Point 7 wechselt oder gar die Marke verschwindet, sondern lediglich, dass er während der Worldcupwoche in Alaçati mit einem Point 7 Segel gesichtet wurde - das ist eine Tatsache! Dort steht, dass auch andere Fahrer mit anderen Marken oder Prototypen für 2014 gesichtet wurden. Es war auch kein Bild-Kommentar, wie Andy schreibt. Was würde die AMS wohl schreiben, wenn Vettel an einem Rennwochenende in einem Ferrari gesichtet würde ;-)

  • Neue Surf 09.2013

    Lieber Totti, ich möchte deiner Erinnerung kurz helfen. Du hast sicher recht, dass der Event viele Jahre sehr gut war. Aber er wurde in den letzten Jahren immer schlechter. Schau dir einfach mal die Bilder vom Event 2011 an. Da sieht man, wie das Eventgelände in dem Jahr aussah. Ich frage mich, wo ist das ganze Geld hingeflossen, das die Veranstalter für die Durchführung damals bekommen haben - in die Häppchen (nicht nur für die Fahrer) und die üppigen Feiern im tollen Hotel? Oder vielleicht doch in die Taschen der Organisatoren, ich weiß es nicht. Fakt ist, dass der Cup 2011 am Boden war, da kannst du jeden Fahrer fragen (was ich getan habe - nicht alle, aber viele). Und offensichtlich hatten die Morenos das gleiche Budget und haben mehr daraus gemacht für den Event - auch das ist nicht nur meine sondern auch die Meinung aller Fahrer mit denen ich dieses Jahr Vorort gesprochen habe. Und dass es jetzt an der PWA oder den Organisatoren liegt, dass es im Hochsommer keinen Wind in diesem Jahr gab, wage ich dann doch zu bezweifeln (auch wenn sie die Mondphasen vielleicht nicht gecheckt haben). Hätte es den normalen Wind gegeben, hätte es wie all die Jahre grandiose Action gegeben, die vor allem durch einem sehr aufwändigen (und teuren) Livestream sehr viele Menschen erreicht hätte. Gut investiertes Geld, wie ich finde. Denn ich glaube, das hätten viele Surfer rund um die Welt besser gefunden, als Häppchen und Feiern im Hotel.

  • Die PWA und ihr Regelwerk, von dem sie nichts wissen möchte...

    Moin zusammen, völlig off topic, aber wurde ja gerade heiß diskutiert: Macht Race (Slalom) Material für "Normalsurfer" Sinn? Genau das haben wir für das nächste Heft mal getestet. Gute, sehr gute und exzellente Surfer auf Freeride-, Freerace- und Slalommaterial gestellt, Vergleichsfahrten bei unterschiedlichen Bedingungen und GPS-Messungen gemacht. Super interessant. Das Heft kommt um den 20. Juni raus (Werbung aus).
    Und das Thema PWA werden wir bestimmt mal in einem der nächsten Heft durchleuchten - auch sehr interessant (Danke für die Anregungen hier)

  • Wer war wohl am Häufigsten auf dem Titel der surf?

    Moin zusammen, ich kann es auch nicht exakt sagen und wir haben auch keine Statistik geführt. Bei rund 400 Heften kann man da schon mal den Überblick verlieren. Ich würde mal auf Robby tippen, weil er vor allem in den frühen Jahren ziemlich stark auf dem Cover vertreten war. Aber insgesamt tippe ich, dass kein Surfer mehr als 15 Mal auf dem Titel war - wenn ich gaaaaanz viel Zeit habe, steige ich mal ins Archiv ;-)

    Moin zusammen, einen ähnlichen Artikel, wie den, den ihr euch wünscht, hatten wir im vergangenen Jahr http://www.surf-magazin.de/tes…oards-135-2012/a6473.html
    Hier könnt ihr euch den Vergleich zwischen Freeride-, Freerace und Slalom runter laden (für Abonnenten kostenlos). Ich denke diese Art von Vergleich ist wirklich sinnvoll für eine recht große Zielgruppe und da werden wir sicher in diesem Jahr noch mehr machen. Ich versuche mal, eine Grafik aus der letzten Leserumfrage hier einzubauen. Darin sieht man, dass ein reines Slalomthema vielleicht doch nicht so viele Leute in unserer gesamten Leserschaft interessiert. Bildschirmfoto 2013-02-24 um 18.53.33.jpg

    @ Flo - das war am 23.1. in Puertito, dem Spot vor dem Hafen von Cotillo. Du wirst staunen, wenn du die Bilder siehst :D
    herry - ich werde jetzt lieber nicht tiefer auf die Kostenstruktur des Magazins eingehen - sonst kriege ich noch Ärger mit meinen Bossen;)
