As we communicated recently in the update we sent out, we need to start making decisions about the future of foiling, particularly with regards to any equipment specifications and limitations.
The current limitations specify that boards cannot be wider than 91cm and that sails cannot be bigger than 10m2, but beyond that there are no limitations on equipment.
At this stage, the main areas of consideration are:
- Maximum board width
- Maximum sail size
- Mast height
We would appreciate your feedback on each of these areas and if there are any other aspects of foil equipment that you feel should be limited or otherwise specified, please let us know.
In addition, if you have any strong opinions about future formats for foil racing, we would like to hear those too. Whether the discipline should be integrated with Slalom, or kept separate, and what type of courses we should be moving towards as the discipline evolves.
Whilst there will undoubtedly be many differing opinions, we do listen to them all and will try to find a consensus that suits the majority wishes as closely as possible.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards
The PWA
